Hi everyone!
This is my first time entering this contest and I wanted to create a render that had a message/story behind it so I have decided to create a VW Type 2 camper van. At the moment, I am currently still thinking about the story behind the image but I do wish to make the vehicle look old, rusted with dents in the body work etc and I will post WIP shots.

Hi Steven, glad to see you on the competition. Nice start, vw camper is a beautiful car, a lot of story behind it - a legendary car - nice choice. Good luck!
After a lot of tweaking to get the shape right I wanted to then add in some more detailed parts as well as refine the hinges and door handles. I also spent some time working with different wheel shapes.
I then done some final clean ups and mirrored my geometry to create the exterior of the campervan. This is stage one of the exterior, the next stage will involve making the vehicle look old. Although I will do a lot of this within the texturing process, I will be changing some of the geometry to suit the look I want to go for.
So my next steps will be looking at the environment and the interior of the vehicle.
Did this car in last challenge. Unfortunately, didn't have much skill and knowledge and did it very poorly. Hope you'll do a better job 🙂

Oh I see! Thank you, I hope I do too, I am just gathering a lot of reference/research to try and make it as accurate as possible!
A quick update on my progress. I have almost finished creating the 'clean' version of my environment, much like my vehicle it will looked aged, to try and tell a story within the image. I have been taking into account composition and framing of the shot so that the environment compliments the vehicle instead of taking too much of the attention. If anyone has any criticism or advice it is welcome!
Next stages, finish up the first stage of the environment, create a interior for the vehicle, add final details to the models then onto unwrapping and texturing!
A couple of work in progress shots, switched over to VRay and imported one of my own HDRI's to add some atmosphere. Still experimenting with light settings. The vehicle itself will be rotated round so the front faces more towards the camera. It is currently side on so that I could edit the mesh and destroy the van a bit.
I have just started the unwrap process so that I can move onto texturing the vehicle and environment!
