Designed by the legendary architect Frank Gehry the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles is just simply a building that one will remember. In 1987 Walt's wife Lillian donated a initial 50 million dollars for the construction of the hall as a tribute to her late husband and to share his love for the arts. The building is fluid and soft in some ways but sharp and defined in others which will make recreating it in 3D a hopefully rewarding challenge. I want to give Hum3D a shout out for continuing to sponsor these challenges that keep the 3D community strong.

Frank Gehry's Walt Disney Concert Hall is a beast of a building to figure out but luckily there is a ton of good reference. I'm starting the block out stage of this project by working with a floor plan and a ton of photo reference to pick out the different elements of the building.

Getting closer to figuring out all of these curves and getting the forms into place.

Overall things are coming together and all of the major parts of the composition are in place. Next tasks are to work on materials for the building, lighting and detail assets.

A couple final WIP screen grabs of the final scene using the eevee renderer in Blender 2.91. Lighting was a mix of hdri, emission shaders, and a dozen or so lights for extra color depth.
