Having missed last contest, I wanted to go for something special. The idea is to adapt the Lightning Gun from The Order 1886 to a shorter, more SMG-like format.

I will be modelling in Solidworks, texturing in 3DCoat and Substance Painter (probably) and rendering in Vray for Cinema 4D.

I'm new to the forum, so if I screwed up with the category or posting in general, please let me know.

Early Stages of modelling... I'll define the shape as I model, so there's no previous concept art

This concludes work for today. I hope i can move into texturing tomorrow, but there's still a lot of modelling to do.

Early assembly. Still a lot to do, but the overall shape begins to unveil itself. The original idea was to turn the game's original design into a hand cannon, but i was worried about it being disproportionate. As i begin to add details and defining a shape, i believe a hand cannon structure is viable. However, if the need arises, there's a spot reserved for a handle.

Some details added to the main structure. Not much modelling left to do.

The modelling process is finished, at least for now. Tomorrow i'll be splitting the model into different materials in order to start the texturing process.

I've separated the model into different materials. Now the texturing process begins. The colors depicted in the image are not representative of the final product. The actual color scheme will be decided while texturing, after proper experimentation with different materials.
